Employee Spotlight: Kenny Kerr

Employee Spotlight: Kenny Kerr

For Kenny Kerr, Rodem has been apart of his life from the very beginning. As the son of Susan Kerr and grandson of Rodem founders Bob and Helen Diener, Kenny first visited Rodem when he was just two days old. He officially joined the team in 2013 while attending college and became a full-time employee after graduating in 2016.

As an Accounting Specialist, Kenny supports many of Rodem’s day-to-day financial operations. His responsibilities include project invoicing, monthly financial reporting, vendor invoice processing, commission tracking, project maintenance, and preparing financial information that helps leadership monitor the company’s performance.

Having grown up around the business, Kenny has had a unique opportunity to witness Rodem’s growth while experiencing the family-oriented culture that continues to define the company. We’re grateful for his dedication and the important role he plays in supporting our team every day.

What's your best Rodem memory?

The opening party for the new Harrison office. Working remotely it was nice to see faces new and old along with other friends and family. It was such an exciting time then and looking towards the future. It was impressive to see what Rodem had grown into after so many years at Crookshank – to see that development and the people involved with my own eyes was quite the experience.

What is your history with Rodem?

I started working here during the summer of 2013 while I was in college and eventually joined full time once I graduated in 2016. However, I’ve been going to Rodem since I was two days old. My mom, Susan Kerr (eldest daughter of Bob & Helen Diener, founders of Rodem), took me into work when I was just a newborn and had me in the corner of her office while she worked. Since then I would stop by Rodem occasionally as I joined my mom throughout the years until I finally started working here myself. Rodem’s always been a family company and its been a special experience to have worked alongside so much of my family.

What is your go to lunch order?

Chicken parmesan sandwich (although I’ve been branching out lately), fries, and a cookie from Penn Station. They don’t have those down by me in Charleston, SC, so it’s usually on my list of places to go when I’m in town.

What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?

Soccer, running (training for my 1st marathon this fall), triathlon, golf, reading, music (discovering new songs and artists as well as growing my vinyl collection. Recently also have started attending music festivals with my wife), currently learning to play the guitar and piano, hiking/camping, chess, movies (although that’s harder now with a 1 year old). I like being active, challenging my body and mind, and then relaxing with a good book, album, or movie.

What's one place you've always wanted to visit and what would you do there?

The pacific northwest. Hike, mountain bike, kayak – explore the outdoors
